• Dr. Melanie Heniff recently joined EM legends Drs. Greg Henry and Rich Bukata for a podcast in which she shared her expertise on medico-legal issues within Emergency Medicine

 

• Dr. Heniff was also in the news for coming to the aid of an IU McKinney School of Law classmate after a motor vehicle crash!

• In Summer 2019, Major Health Partners Medical Center was recognized as one of Becker’s Top 100 Community Hospitals, defined as hospitals with no more than 550 beds

• In January 2017 we were named in Becker’s Hospital Review as one of 59 hospitals in the country with an ED Door-to-Doc time of 3 minutes… We are the only hospital in Indiana to have received this recognition

 

• In Spring 2018, Tom Heniff MD (President of BCEM) was awarded the Fred Osborn Award by the Indiana chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. The annual award recognizes a Hoosier emergency physician who has exemplified excellence in leadership skills as well as contributions to the Emergency Medicine community at the local, regional, and state level.

 

• BCEM members hold leadership positions in various organizations on a state and national level, including:

  • Indiana ACEP (American College of Emergency Physicians) Board of Directors           

  • National ACEP Medical Legal Committee

  • Indiana State EMS Commission

  • Indiana State EMS Technical Advisory Committee

  • National Emergency Nurses Association (ENA): Fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing

  • National American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners

   

• Several of our leadership team have completed the Suburban Health Organization (SHO) Physician Leadership Series

 

• Witham Health Services at Anson has been a 4-time (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) winner of the Press-Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Satisfaction, reflecting >99^th percentile satisfaction scores for 4 quarters each year.

 

 

• In the first year of BCEM’s partnership with Major Hospital, ED Press-Ganey overall score improved by 73%, “left-without-being-seen” rate decreased by >70%, and ED length of stay decreased by 10% due to process improvement and other initiatives by the BCEM and nursing leadership team.

• The Leadership Team has attended all 3 Phases of the ACEP (American College of Emergency Physicians) ED Director Academy, regarded as “a must” for developing the skills of successful Emergency Medicine  medical directors. Our ED Nursing Director at Major has also participated in Phase II.

 

 

• BCEM hosts various social and recruitment events throughout the year, including an annual outing at the Indianapolis Indians and parties at Indy’s highly rated restaurants and breweries

 

 

• BCEM is dedicated to contributing to our communities and hospitals  philanthropically. In Spring 2018, the group made a donation to the Witham Health Services Foundation toward development of Witham’s groundbreaking sim center

• BCEM members participated in the ground-breaking for Witham’s hospital expansion in Fall 2017
